MSc Agronomy – Educational Objectives
MSc Agronomy or Master of Science in Agronomy is a postgraduate course in Agriculture. Agronomy is the application of various soil and plant sciences to soil management and crop production; scientific agriculture. Subjects studied under this degree focus on modern concepts in crop production, physiology of drought, herbicides, and crop production, physiological aspect of crop yield, principles of crop nutrition, physiology of crop plants, advanced irrigation agronomy, agricultural research organizations, advanced crop ecology, applied conservation agronomy, arid zone agronomy, cropping and farming systems and agrometeorology. After passing this course, students have many opportunities in various fields.
Agronomy is also common, occasionally also spelled (Agronomy), is the branch of biology which relates to the animal kingdom, including the structure, embryology, evolution, classification, habits, and distribution of all animals, both living and extinct. Students may also study parasites and immunity, cell and receptor biology, evolution and animal behavior, biodiversity and taxonomy and neuroscience and endocrinology. Classes might include both lecture and lab to meet the desired results .
M.Sc. Agronomy : B.Sc.(Agriculture) with minimum 50%
Admission can be taken directly on merit/marks basis or through AGI(CET)
Fee Structure For M.Sc Agronomy Session 2021-22
The tuition fee for M.Sc Agronomy is INR 30,000/- per Sem.
After completion of M.Sc Agronomy, students interested in research can opt for PhD.Various government departments such as the UPSC, SSC, State PSC, etc conducts examination for recruitment of talented candidates. Many opportunities are available in the forensic science department also. The research field can lookout for an opening in BARC, ISRO, etc.
After passing the Master Degree course, students have further can opt for teaching and research studies options.
They can also join the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Delhi as a junior fellow researcher.
Candidates can work in the private sector on applied research and product development or engage in basic research, mainly in universities or government agencies.
They can also become an agricultural scientist who can also work as consultants in business firms, private clients or to government.
